How do I ween him off every 2 hrs feeds, or is it normal he is still eating that often?
I have a 5 month old boy who is still having a bottle every 2 hours. It is usually about 200ml each time. I thought by this time the feeds would be a little more further apart. How do I ween him off every 2 hrs feeds or is it normal he is still eating that often?
Thanks in advance, Erin
P.S he eats a jar of vege`s for lunch as we just started him on it.
It isnt so common for a bub on formula to feed so often, generally as formula is more dense than breastmilk bubs can go for longer between feeds. But before you change anything, I would check in with the CHN and just see if he has been growing at a consistent rate, this will help with making a decision on any changes.
You are likely to find that around 8 months he rejects a feed or needs a lot less as their tummies are sufficient size to eat enough solids to fill up more. Remember to work in homemade foods as they have a coarser texture and help to avoid fussyness related to overly smooth textures later.
All the best,
