Once it hits 2am he is awake and crying

Hi Maree,
I have a 7 month old who wakes between 2 and 3am every morning and crys for 1/2 an hour to 2 hours. Its been going on for about 6 weeks now. He goes to bed perfectly at 6:30/7pm and sleeps without any problems untilt then but once it hits 2am hes awake and crying. I have tried re settling, panadol and bonjela as thought it was teething, letting him cry for 10mins at a time but nothing worked. in the end he was so upset that i fed him and he was falling asleep within 15 min on his own. Its at the point now that i have just been feeding him as soon as he wakes which worked ok the first couple of times but now he just drinks the bottle then crys for another 30mins. IM not real sure what to do. Its a problem becuase i also have a 2 year old that wakes at 6am if im lucky enough for my 7 month olds crys not to wake her and my husband does arvo shift so gets home at midnight. Please Help.

Answer: Hi Peta, From about 6 months on a baby should be able to sleep through without an overnight feed but he may be hungry. Give him the benefit of the doubt for a bit longer and try increasing his daily intake. You may want to follow our settling techniques to resettle during the night and incorporate a 10pm rollover feed to give you confidence he is not hungry when waking during the night. Cheers, Maree
