My 10 month old daughter she still wakes up 2 to 3 times during the night

Hi Maree
I asked a question that would have come into the April week 1 category and it wasn`t on the answer page and there is no week one link either, I thought it might go in week 2 but there is nothing.

I was asking about my 10 month old daughter she still wakes up 2 to 3 times during the night, usually at least twice for a bottle and then goes back to sleep, she seems genuinely hungry when she has the bottles. She doesn`t eat much of her solids still and will only eat smooth food, I am worried that if she doesn’t have those bottles she won’t get enough food, should I be trying to wean her off these bottles because everyone keeps telling me she should have bottles after 6 months and how should I wean her off so she’s not screaming in starvation.

Answer: Hi Kristine, From about 6 months a baby should be able to sleep through the night without an overnight feed. Also it becomes a bit of a cycle if you continue to offer these feeds she fills up overnight and will naturally consume less during the day. These bottle become a sleep association. I would recommend you stop the overnight feeds increase the daily intake and follow our It`s Time To Sleep settling program to resettle her when she wakes. Cheers, Maree
