He will not go down without me holding him

My almost 8 month old son will not go to sleep without being held. He used to go down easily, but since he started to stand, he will not go down without me holding him. Even then, I struggle for him to stay asleep, and he will wake sometimes every half an hour. As soon as he is with me or my husband, then he will sleep, but if he can`t touch one of us, he screams. I go back to work soon, and I am not going to be able to have broken sleep like this every night. Can you please help?
Thanks
Raeleigh

Answer: Hi Raeleigh, Your son totally relies on your comfort to sleep and at present he could also be experiencing 8 month separation anxiety. To change this you would need to teach him to sleep independently because at present he does not know how to sleep without you. If you wish to try our It`s TimeTo Sleep settling program you can get details form this `Your Baby`s Sleep` page or www.itstimetosleep.com Cheers, Maree
