Sleeps through the night (which is great) but she only goes to sleep in my arms

Hi
My little girl is now 14 weeks old and sleeps through the night (which is great) but she only goes to sleep in my arms. I have to either feed her and she falls asleep in my arms which doesn`t happen too often or she is screaming her lungs out and I have to hold her tight, pat her bottom and eventually she will calm down and fall asleep. I then put her into bed. I hold her fairly tight as she isn`t wrapped anymore cos she kicks all the blankets off and sleeps in a sleeping bag thingy.

My question is should I change the way she goes to sleep at nite? and how do I do this? Or should I just keep doing what I`m doing and be happy that she sleeps all nite? She deosn`t sleep much during the day so by 8pm she is cranky as.

If she is really cranky at some stage during the day I will wrap her and hold her tight again and I supose you could say `make` her sleep - she knows she tired - it doesn`t take very long for her to go to sleep then but she only sleeps for half hr and as soon as I put her down she will wake up. I don`t mind that she is up most of the day but she is much happier if she has had a couple of decent sleeps during the day - well she seems happier. Any suggestions??? Thanks Kristy

Answer: Hi Kristy, You are extremely lucky that she does sleep through the night because usually a baby that is rocked and fed to sleep wakes frequently. This is probably why she is not sleeping much during the day though. Try following our It`s time To Sleep settling program it will teach you how to do a feed/play/sleep routine and take you step by step through our settling techniques to teach her to sleep independently.
