At what age do toddlers generally stop having afternoon naps?

Hi Maree, I have a 21 month old son, he has been in a great routine since he was about 2 months old but recently he has started to wean himself off the odd afternoon nap here and there, is this normal at this age? and at what age do toddlers generally stop having afternoon naps? also how many hours a night should a toddler be sleeping?
I look forward to your reply

Answer: Hi Emma, You would expect your son to be sleeping 7pm to 7am at this age and it may be about this time he could begin to drop the daytime nap. Every day won`t be the same and the days without a nap I would make sure you have an early dinner ready and then bath so he is not falling asleep in his plate. Be guided by tired signs during this transition period and sometimes even some quiet time in a darkened lounge with a low key video is good. Cheers, Maree
