I will be 40 weeks on Thursday and thursday night I will be getting induced due to high blood pressure. I'm just wondering what to expect and how anyone else went with it? Thanks.
Answer: Hi, This depends on how your labour is monitored and your BP throughout your labour. Being induced for hypertension is not uncommon especially when so close to term. You'll find your BP is continually checked and monitored to see that it does not reach a dangerous level and you may require a caesarean section delivery. You may also find you are given medication to bring down your BP and your baby's heart beat will be monitored as well. Again, what happens really depends on the level of your BP and how it changes through your labour. Speak with your maternity care provider as well to ensure they know how you feel and are concerned. Having an open communication and questions answered through your labour and delivery is very important. Best Jane
