Do you think she will go backwards when the new babies arrive?
hi betty, i have a two year old daughter almost three and i have twins on the way, my daughter is almost toilet trained. do you think she will go backwards in most things when the new babies arrive? eg toilet training, independence etc. what is the best way to deal with it if she does?
The only reason any of us `go backwards` or do things we otherwise wouldnt do is because we are stressed, either a little or a lot....the issue isnt whether she `goes backwards` - refrain from seeing her as a list of achievements (so you dont get overly anxious and you dont unwittingly put pressure on her to perform), and focus more on helping her feel secure so she can better manage her own stress and continue being the great child she seems to be. Lots of cuddles, kisses, talking, calm times are lovely ideas to try. Also if you can spend some time just with her when the twins are born so she still has her special time with you. Good luck.
