I assume whilst he is so young it doesn`t really matter
I have a 10 week old son, Cody who is my 1st child, I read religiously every day, just a golden book that were hand me downs, I use lots of different tones to try and make it fun. Now when I read he actually smiles for pretty much the whole book. So I am guessing I am doing this right?? Can you suggest any other books that are good for him, I assume whilst he is so young it doesn`t really matter, is this true??
You`re absolutely on the right track. And it will be a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable experience for you watching your son grow and learn through your shared reading sessions. Treasure it!
At this early stage, what you read to him doesn`t matter so much. Through your reading he will be learning about the tone and rhythm of your voice and will begin to understand that he`s being `read` to. As he grows, your son will begin to develop interests like favourite books or passages. It`s at this point you can let him guide you as you discover what he likes.
A fantastic resource for parents is Mem Fox`s "Reading Magic" DVD, which you`ll find at the Huggies Bookclub.
