Answer: Hi, This is very common behaviour at this age, before a baby has learnt skills in becoming more independently mobile and can entertain themselves. It's also tied in with their sense of separation anxiety and boosting their feelings of security and love. This is normal for his age and stage, he's not so much attention seeking but attention needing, you are his world for now and although it can be draining for parents, it will pass and won't last forever. Try not to see this as a negative stage for him, as he learns how to sit and crawl and move around more he will improve and his tolerance will increase. Try to engage him and get his attention with lots of toys and interactive play. You may need to experiment with the times you do put him down and so he's not hungry or overtired and all of his needs have been met so he's in just the right frame of mind to find floor and play mat time absolutely wonderful. Don't fret, this time will pass. Cheers Jane
