Answer: Hi, You can't make her be happy about it, your role is to give her the information and allow her time to process what this means. She's probably feeling a bit unsure and overwhelmed about it all, where she fits in now and what this will mean in terms of your relationship with her and now having to share you. It's completely normal that for now, she's not sharing your joy. Kids are often quite selfish and interpret the world primarily through a "what does this mean to me" mentality, she is only doing what is biologically normal for an eight year old. Give her time and try not to talk too much about the baby and your own excitement. Try to contain this to yourself for a bit and give your daughter some space to get used to the idea. She will, but in her own time. Try also to be normal about your every day life and from this and your own behaviour, she will follow your lead. Best Jane
