Answer: Hi, At this age and stage he is working out how to get the maximum amount of attention from his parents and the world around him. Boys especially, can be very loud and as if their voice is too mature for their size. As long as he is doing this for attention seeking purposes and it's not a sign that he's unwell and needs to see a doctor, then it may help to not "buy" into his yelling too much. He's too little to modify or change his behaviour as a result of how he is cared for however, he will pick up on your responses to him and his yelling. Try to give him more attention, not less when he's not yelling and when he does call out, try not to respond straight away. If you do he's likely to learn that this gets him lots of lovely attention and is more likely to repeat it. As he matures and can speak and language is a developing skill for him, you're likely to find that this yelling stops. But in the meantime be aware of your own role modelling as well; kids who grow up in household where the tempo of voices is high or where there's a lot of raised voices or yelling learn that this is the way to communicate. And just as an aside, if you feel there are any concerns with his hearing or he's had frequent ear infections, then having his hearing assessed may be a good idea. Best Jane
