Head engaged at 32 weeks

Hi Alex,
I have just had my 32 week check-up (pregnant with 2nd) the head is engaged and very low. She said she could feel the neck but could not move the head at all. She asked me if I had been experiencing any contractions.

Is she concerned that I am going to go into labour early? I have not had any contractions. I have experienced a lot of downward pressure that often becomes painful.
Should I be concerned that my labour could start early? My first was one week early.

Answer: Hi, Your labour more than likely will not begin until around 40 weeks. It is not unusual to have the baby sitting low. Try not to worry too much you may get some runs of tightenings over the next weeks but you should go close to term. Best wishes, Alex
