I have varicose veins in my uterus. Can this be affecting my fertility?

Hi Alex,
My husband and i have an 18 month old. We have been trying to conceive our 2nd child for 9 months now. Prior to trying to conceive i had a mirena device inserted. I occassionally have pain during sex, as if there is some swelling at the top-most point of my uterus. I had an ultra sound which came back fine, however they told me i did have varicose veins in my uterus. Can this be affecting my fertility, or is it natural that it is taking so long.(i know 9 months isn`t long compared to some people!) We were lucky enough to get pregnant straight away with our first child.

Answer: Hi, It may take quite a few months for your body to return to being fertile after the removal of the device. Try not to be too concerned just yet. If you are still experiencing problems in 6 months it is advisable to visit your GP for a referral to a specialist gynaecologist who can do some more tests to see if there is a problem. Best wishes, Alex
