Unable to find a yolk sack

I had an u/s at 6weeks and 2days due to 3 previous miscarriages and the need to check for a viable pregnancy. There was a fetus with a heart rate of about 120/min, but they were unable to find a yolk sack. I have to go back in either this week or next week for another u/s to see if the baby is growing. My HCG level at 4 weeks was 127.

What does this mean for my baby? And what happens if they find no growth? Do they wait until the heart stops beating or will they recommend a D&C anyway?

Answer: HI, Thank you for your enquiry. It is a bit of a `wait and see` time. The ultrasound is quite difficult at this early stage as the baby is very small and it is difficult to get the scan accurate. Your carers will not do anything radical and they will not step in early. Best wishes, Alex.
